Sophie Smyke is a licensed clinical social worker who provides individual therapy and parent coaching to children, adolescents, and young adults. She has experience supporting young people navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, and complex emotional and behavioral needs. Sophie primarily draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed approaches, adapting treatment to each client’s developmental stage, strengths, and individual needs. She works collaboratively with clients to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and develop practical coping skills for everyday life.
Sophie brings a warm, relational, and developmentally responsive approach to her work. With children, she incorporates play, creativity, and developmentally appropriate CBT interventions into therapy. She particularly enjoys partnering with parents and caregivers through parent coaching and collaborative conversations, helping families better understand their child’s needs, strengthen connection, and support therapeutic strategies at home.
During her graduate clinical training, Sophie completed field placements at Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs and Parker Elementary School in Billerica, providing individual therapy and collaborating with families, educators, and multidisciplinary providers.
Prior to her M.S.W., Sophie completed a two-year post-baccalaureate fellowship at the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development, where she worked as a research coordinator and associate teacher. Sophie earned her M.S.W. with a clinical concentration in Children, Youth and Families, a Certificate in Trauma, and a Certificate in Child Policy and Leadership from Boston College. She received her B.A. in Psychology and Human Rights from Barnard College.
