The Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP)
UP is an evidence-based, transdiagnostic cognitive behavioral therapy treatment that addresses emotion-focused disorders (anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and Depression). UP targets core psychological processes shared across these disorders, providing clients with skills and strategies to manage symptoms regardless of diagnosis.
The treatment is designed for individuals who experience frequent and intense negative emotions, negative reactions to these emotions, and tend to avoid or suppress them. UP consists of core skills to help clients navigate emotional challenges by developing emotional awareness, mindfulness skills, flexible thinking, interoceptive and situational exposures, and changing unhelpful behaviors.
There is an adapted curriculum for children (UP-C) and adolescents (UP-A). Treatment can be structured individually or as group treatment. There is also a parent curriculum with parent-focused handouts and information.
