Failure to launch refers to a situation when an adult (18+) has difficulty achieving independence or autonomy from their parents. Typically this means that adult children are working less than 10 hours per week and are not enrolled in educational or training pursuits. Individuals experiencing failure to launch often, but not always, live with their parents or caregivers, however, they may live separately from their parents but remain financially dependent on them. Associated features of failure to lauch often include disruptive sleep, social isolation, excessive online or electronic use, physical health challenges, mental health challenges, and previous school related difficulties.
